EXCLUSIVE / TOP PLAYER INTERVIEW ④
Chanyuki

Floor 317 on 404M Power
Chanyuki's Blueprint

While 700M players stall around floor 320, she stands level with 300M less.

404,459,488TOTAL POWER

Start with the numbers. 404M total power, Abyss floor 317.
The other players in this series sit around 700M and have reached roughly floor 320. Which means Chanyuki is closing a 300M power gap through team building alone.
On server J-12, in guild @home, she keeps three Abyss formations saved and switches between them based on enemy layout. Not one strong build, but several answers to several situations. We went through the details with her formation screens open.

Abyss progress vs total power Chanyuki — 404M total power / Abyss floor 317
For reference: every other player interviewed in this series sits between 690M and 710M, at floors 316 to 328.
The deeper Abyss goes, the less raw power alone carries you. Reaching the same band with 300M less says more about this build than any description could.

02The Abyss Blueprint — Three Stunners Into Time Strike

PARA
LABO
PARALABO Editorial
Why is your team built the way it is?
Chanyuki
Chanyuki
This is my Abyss setup. Early Abyss enemies sometimes open with an AoE, so I put three stunners up front. That lets Yellow Ryoko in the fifth slot wipe the early wave with Time Strike. Yui is there to lock down enemies the stuns didn't land on. After that it's about positioning to protect Green Reika, and putting sleep down so Green Yanagiba can clean up the small stuff.
PositionRole
Front 3Stun holders. They absorb the AoE and spread stuns (Mokumaru / Bridal Aoki-sensei / Swimsuit Nayuta)
Slot 5Miyamoto Ryoko "A Smoke and a Wake" — wipes the early wave with Time Strike
LockdownYui (Yukata) — follow-up stun, denying the enemy turns
Protect RyokoYui (Sleep) — puts the enemies the stuns missed to sleep, shielding Ryoko in slot 5
Cover the retreatAmakusa Jin "The Silent Blade" — placed behind squad 4. When Ryoko retreats, he stuns to set up another Time Strike
The one to protectReika "Lost in the Evening Rain" — keeping her alive is the point of the build
CleanupSleep goes down, and Yanagiba Ryu "The Man Who Came Late" clears the trash
Editor's note — The design starts with taking a hit What makes this build unusual is that the front three are given a purpose other than killing. They aren't there to trade damage; firing their stun skills is the job itself. Stuns land, Time Strike and Survivor unlock, and the characters behind them get to do what they do. The role of the stun is to enable allies by stopping enemies.
Note also that an SR sits in that front line. A player at 404M total power fills an Abyss slot based on skill role rather than power value — squad slots are decided by function, not rarity.
And there's a second layer: Ryoko is protected twice over. Sleep Yui puts to sleep whatever the stuns missed, cutting attacks aimed at Ryoko, while Amakusa "The Silent Blade" sits behind squad 4 anticipating Ryoko's retreat and stunning so she can fire Time Strike again on re-entry. Reika isn't the only card being kept alive — the damage trigger is too.

03The Criterion — "Can I Keep Reika Alive to the End?"

PARA
LABO
PARALABO Editorial
What's your criterion when building a squad?
Chanyuki
Chanyuki
Whether I can keep Green Reika alive until the end. That's the whole criterion.
PARA
LABO
Reika came out relatively late. What made you decide to main her?
Chanyuki
Chanyuki
It's the 6x Survivor, I think. The way I see it, Abyss changes based on the quality of your attacker. Green Reika has Guts and self-healing, so she can endure for a long time while still putting out damage — that's what I want.
Editor's note — How she picks a main: endurance and damage in one card This is her selection criterion for a main attacker, stated outright. The premise is that Abyss is decided by attacker quality, and Reika qualifies on three counts at once: an exceptional multiplier in the 6x Survivor, staying power through Guts, and independence through self-healing.
The usual approach separates the character who tanks from the character who hits. But if one card can do both, keeping that card standing to the end is your maximum damage. The protected unit and the main damage dealer being the same person — that is the entire design.
She chooses her main by how many roles it can hold at once, not by release date.
Editor's note The positioning of the front line, Yui's role, where the sleep goes — everything above works backwards from that single point. Build from "who am I keeping alive," not "who am I putting in." If you're stuck on a build, asking whether your squad has a card it exists to protect narrows the options fast.

04Not One Formation — Three, for Abyss

Chanyuki keeps three Abyss formations saved and switches after seeing the enemy layout. Same total power, entirely different contents. (She maintains a separate setup for Ambition as well.)

PARALABO Editorial
How does this one differ from the previous setup?
Chanyuki
Chanyuki
This one just swaps Ryoko and Yanagiba. I use them differently depending on whether there are purple enemies toward the back and yellow enemies early on.
Chanyuki
I split it by sleep and stun first, test which one leaves the enemy down to a single target, and pick based on that. What all three formations have in common is protecting Reika.
Editor's note — Two layers of decision There are two bases for switching. The first is the result of actually testing — she runs both the sleep version and the stun version and picks whichever gets the enemy down to one remaining target. The second is enemy element layout — purple at the back, yellow early on, and she swaps the positions of Ryoko and Yanagiba.
Rather than deciding the optimum on paper, she keeps two candidates and lets the fight choose. And through all of it, the skeleton — protect Reika — never moves. What changes and what doesn't are cleanly separated.

05Synergy That Works — Auto Guard × Cleanse

PARA
LABO
PARALABO Editorial
Is there a synergy you find especially strong?
Chanyuki
Chanyuki
I think Auto Guard and cleanse characters go well together.
Editor's note Auto Guard is a way to protect; cleanse is a way to strip status effects. Alone, the first still loses its target to a disable; alone, the second still loses it to damage. Together they make the actual goal possible: keeping one card standing to the end.
Even her read on synergy sits on the same axis — does it help keep Reika alive?

06Favorite Characters — She Couldn't Pick One

PARA
LABO
PARALABO Editorial
Which character do you like most?
Chanyuki
Chanyuki
I really couldn't pick just one. Yellow Miyamoto Ryoko, Green Reika, and cleanse-holder Honda. Those three.
PARA
LABO
And the most enjoyable part of playing?
Chanyuki
Talking with the guild!
Editor's note The three she named map exactly onto the three pillars of the build: Ryoko who clears the early wave, Reika who has to be kept alive, and Honda who strips status effects. Rather than her favorites happening to be her mains, the more likely order is that attachment grew out of use.
In Unification she has also taken down an opposing guild's higher-powered squads — three in a row with a single team, built around counters firing at full value.

07Advice for New Players

PARA
LABO
PARALABO Editorial
Any advice for people just starting out?
Chanyuki
Chanyuki
I really do think it's better to focus on raising a single character.
Editor's note Coming from someone who has taken 13 SSRs to Lv.200 and full awakening, "focus on a single character" carries weight. Spread yourself early and every card stalls halfway. Push one card all the way first — that turns out to be the shortest path to eventually running several formations.

08Chanyuki's Core Cards

The four cards at the heart of the build, all Lv.200 and fully awakened.

Reika, Lost in the Evening Rain, 41,771,849

Miyamoto Ryoko, A Smoke and a Wake, 41,338,347
Miyamoto Ryoko "A Smoke and a Wake"
41,338,347 / Special Attacker
Slot 5. Clears the early wave with Time Strike
Yanagiba Ryu, The Man Who Came Late, 36,922,899
Yanagiba Ryu "The Man Who Came Late"
36,922,899 / Special Attacker
Handles cleanup alongside the sleep
Honda Minami, This Isn't a Date, Right?, 32,431,061
Honda Minami "This Isn't a Date, Right?"
32,431,061 / Physical Attacker
Cleanse. Pairs with Auto Guard to hold the line
Editor's note — The numbers confirm the thinking Line the four up and Reika's 13,871,734 attack stands clear of the rest. The card she protects is also the hardest hitter she owns. "Endure for a long time while still putting out damage" shows up directly in the stat line.
One more thing: her Soul Resonance links are unlocked, meaning the partner cards are finished too. Rather than chasing solo numbers, she completes cards in combination — the same philosophy running through the build, applied to how she levels.
Bonus — A strong counter card
Rosa, When She Returns to the Sea, 33,463,168
Rosa "When She Returns to the Sea"
33,463,168 / Physical Attacker
We spotted a strong counter card while going through her formations and asked about it; she kindly showed us the full stat sheet.
Attack 10,052,427, physical attack 5,652,627. Counters gain you actions the more the opponent swings, so the card's value rises exactly when you're under pressure.
Closing note — Covering 300M with a build What stays with you after this interview is the density of the build.
The three front stunners exist to create conditions rather than kills. Sleep Yui fills the gaps the stuns leave. Amakusa "The Silent Blade" is positioned for what happens after Ryoko retreats. And the whole thing gets swapped out based on enemy layout. Every single placement has a reason.
700M players are stalling around floor 320. She is at floor 317 on 404M. That number is proof that Abyss isn't purely a power check — and anyone who feels capped by their roster has something to take from this one.

Six things we learned from Chanyuki

  1. Pick your main by how many roles it holdsHigh multiplier, Guts, self-healing. A card that combines endurance and damage turns protection itself into offense — release date doesn't decide this.
  2. Build backwards from the card you're keeping alive"The criterion is whether I can keep Green Reika alive to the end." Start from who you're enabling, not who you're adding.
  3. Give pieces a purpose other than killingThe front stuns exist to create trigger conditions. Stopping the enemy is how they enable everyone else.
  4. Rarity doesn't decide squad slotsAn SR holds a slot when the role fits. Function over power value.
  5. Read the enemy before choosing the formationPurple at the back, yellow early. Keep multiple saved builds and swap based on the board.
  6. When unsure, run both and let the result decideSleep type or stun type — test which gets the enemy to one remaining target. The answer comes from play, not paper.
